Welcome Message: Fall 2020

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year here at West Carteret.

This school year is going to be unlike any that we have experienced in our lives, but with great challenges come great opportunities.  I am looking forward to working together with all of you to make this a meaningful and successful school year.

As we work through the Social Studies Curriculum for this class, we will also focus on developing skills in Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Collaboration, Clear Communication, Personal Responsibility, Conflict Resolution, Time Management, and Leadership. Those are the skills that seem to be in the most demand during this unique time in history. In fact, those are the skills that all of the teachers are having to draw on extensively in order to make sure that this year is as rewarding as possible for students, parents AND teachers.  Skills like these will help you be successful in all of your classes and will transfer to any career students plan to pursue.

Students will have access to my google classroom starting on August 17th.  Most of their online interaction with this class will be through the Google Classroom platform. Parents and guardians will also be invited to join their student's google classroom as a guardian after the first week of school.

In order to keep us all on track, I will continue to keep my website and the calendar up to date with assignments, supplemental information, and links to help students understand the content.

****Please feel free to email me at lindsey.howell@carteretk12.org if you have any questions before the start of school.

****I have posted a supply list on my website.  Click on the name of your class to see what supplies you will need for the start of school.  https://sites.google.com/a/carteretk12.org/mrs-howell-s-history/home
